In doing the second Metal Blade release for my friends Demiricous, their sound and vibe had changed since the first record, so we went a different direction. They hired Tom Denny to draw the main artwork, but some of the band didn’t really dig the bright colors used, so I ended up re(de) coloring it. Everyone liked it better then, so we moved forward using those elements and Nate’s hand written lyrics.
One of the parts that was the most fun was making the huge three-panel fold-out collage of all their party and tour pics from the previous year supporting the first record. Some hilarious stuff in there man.
One major issue we had was he fact that we planned on having the booklet cover with only artwork (no band name), and wanted to put the band’s logo as a sticker on the jewel case. When the completed CDs showed up we realized that the label had gone ahead and added some super random logo (that the band had never used or seen before) and type treatments of their own to the artwork, a total surprise to all of us. Oh well, I should’ve just put their damn logo on the cover like normal.
